Diy whipped butter for your body
Published on April 7, 2020 - Cosmetic Tips
Self-production for me is a passion that has turned into a profession, but I always remember with amusement that the first thing I wanted to prepare was whipped butter. You know whipped cream? I looked at recipes and tutorials and couldn’t wait to try it myself! I was fascinated by that whipped cream effect!
Whipped butter is a special preparation, anhydrous, rather soft, rich, and nourishing; buttery in the true sense of the term, but also soft, suitable for the body, hands, and feet; less so for the face.
The result will be soft, velvety, and elastic skin, but what you will fall in love with is the soft feeling on your skin.
Given its consistency, I recommend using it after showering, on warm skin, to facilitate melting and absorption. You can use it daily as a hand and foot cream, especially when you need deep hydration; even better after a foot bath with baking soda or fizzy tabs.
Recipe for ready to use body butter!
I remind you that the formulations to follow are usually divided into phases, identified by alphabetical letters:
- A – identifies the aqueous phase and all hydrophilic components that need to be dissolved in it,
- B – identifies the oily phase and all lipophilic components that need to be dissolved in it,
- C – is the phase that indicates the ingredients to be added after emulsification and cooling (essential oils and some actives).
This time you will find numbers to understand how to prepare whipped butter step by step!
You will need Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, Grape Seed Oil, cetyl alcohol, vegetable stearin, vitamin E, a fragrance of your choice, and, if desired, pigments to color the butter.
Here I have chosen to use the Wisteria fragrance, with its green and flowery scent, and pink ultramarine to give it a touch of color, but you can choose a more appetizing fragrance, such as chocolate or vanilla, change the color, or even leave it white.
Just one piece of advice: never leave whipped butter unlabeled, or you’ll risk someone eating it!
STEP 1
- 6 grams Cocoa Butter
- 13 grams Shea Butter
- 10 grams Coconut Oil
- 7 grams Sweet Almond Oil
- 5 grams Argan Oil
- 4 grams Grape Seed Oil
STEP 2
- 1.5 grams Cetyl Alcohol
- 1.5 grams Vegetable Stearin
STEP 3
- 0.3 grams Pink Ultramarine
- 1 grams Vitamin E
- 20 drops of Wisteria fragrance
PROCEDURE:
- Weigh the two butters and melt them in a double boiler.
- Let the melted butters cool slightly, then add the vegetable oils.
- Weigh cetyl alcohol and stearin and melt them in a double boiler together with the butters and vegetable oils.
- Remove from the heat source, mix, and then whisk with the hand blender equipped with a whisk.
- To speed it up, I recommend putting the mixture in the freezer for 10 minutes and then whisking again. After cooling the mixture a couple of times, also add vitamin E, coloring, and fragrance. Repeat the freezing step and then whisking with the hand blender for a total of 4-5 times until the desired consistency is reached.
- Transfer to a container and store in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
Happy Preparation!
