Sensitive Scalp? DIY Soothing Oil Recipe
Published on October 15, 2021 - Cosmetic Tips
Welcome back! Our journey through autumnal treatments continues, this time focusing on hair, or more precisely, the scalp, which for various reasons can become sensitive.
A sensitive scalp may exhibit burning, pain, itching, and redness, with causes ranging from improper shampoo, unbalanced diet, stress, to significant atmospheric changes.
It goes without saying that to improve the situation, you must necessarily address the causes and take care of your scalp with targeted products, such as soothing treatments.
A useful addition to your beauty arsenal is…soothing scalp oil!
To create an oil with soothing properties for the scalp, I recommend:
- 7 grams Neem oil
- 5 grams Calendula macerate
- 2.5 grams Flaxseed oil
- 2.5 grams Jojoba oil
- 32 grams Macadamia oil
- 1 gram Vitamin E
- 5 drops Tea tree essential oil
All ingredients should be combined in a single bottle, mixing thoroughly.
For this occasion, I have selected:
- Neem Oil: Eudermic oil rich in oleic acid; with purifying, antibacterial, antiparasitic, antifungal, antiviral, and antiseptic properties.
- Calendula Macerate: Preparation with soothing, protective, and anti-irritant properties.
- Flaxseed Oil: Vegetable oil rich in essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6 or vitamin F), Vitamin E, and lecithin, suitable for treating damaged hair.
- Jojoba Oil: Sebum-like vegetable oil, rich in Vitamin E, B2, and B3, as well as minerals such as zinc, copper, and iodine, particularly suitable for acne-prone, sensitive skin prone to eczema and psoriasis.
- Macadamia Oil: Oleic, palmitoleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids, emollient and nutrient-rich, suitable for treating dull, sensitive, and dry skin.
- Tea Tree Essential Oil: Specifically for its antiseptic action.
I recommend applying the oil to dry scalp and gently massaging, leaving it on for at least 30 minutes; then proceed with shampooing, ensuring all oil residues are removed.
