Aromatherapy: the importance of massage
Published on January 17, 2020 - Aromatherapy
A seemingly simple way to fully benefit from the properties of essential oils is through massage, specifically Aromatic Massage.
I say “seemingly” because the importance of a good massage is often underestimated.
To give or receive a quality massage, one must use quality products and resort to quality therapists.
And when we talk about essential oils associated with massage, we must bear in mind that their qualities reach our entire organism through the sense of smell and permeate through the pores of the skin, reaching all our internal organs.
Skin and massages for well-being
The skin is the largest excretory organ of our body…it is what we are on the outside and reflects perfectly what we are on the inside.
Massage instinctively is the first contact. When we hurt ourselves, we tend to immediately massage the painful area…when a child is injured, they immediately seek maternal touch.
This is a characteristic of both humans and animals; in fact, what is licking by a mammal, if not a massage?
For healing our body, a massage is a balm.
If one receives a well-done massage, at the end of a session, our body should feel toned, invigorated, and harmonized.
Aroma-massage or aromatic massage is highly recommended in cases of stress, muscle tension, disharmony, and internal conflicts; it helps both lymphatic and blood circulation, detoxification, and brings well-being.
For this purpose, a base vegetable oil enriched with one or more essential oils is used. The dosage of the oils is important because the person’s build and weight must be evaluated; therefore, the drops vary from 5 up to 10/13.
Self-massage with essential oils
In addition to receiving a massage, we can treat our body with a self-massage.
By massaging our face, hands, feet, or chakra points, we can dispel negative thoughts and stimulate a simple self-healing of our body both physically and psychologically.
For base vegetable oils, I suggest: Sweet Almond oil, Avocado oil, Sunflower oil, Jojoba oil, Rose oil.
For a regenerating massage: base oil + EO: Bergamot – Mint – Pine – Juniper
For a harmonizing massage: base oil + EO Orange – Mandarin – Melissa – Lavender
For a purifying massage: base oil + EO Lemon – Sandalwood – Cypress
For a relaxing massage: base oil + EO Lavender – Myrtle – Neroli – Clary Sage
